"Winter" Auto Maintenance:

The winter season is fastly approaching , and who wants to be stuck on the side of the road in the cold or rainfall unprepared?

Here are a few DIY tips from Abe's Transmission & Auto center to prepare your vehicle for winter driving.

  • Replace Your Wiper Blades
  • - During the summer months your Wiper Blades have been dried out from sun, not to mention last years usage. Be prepared. Replace your wipers for the seasons rainfall .

  • Check Your Windshield Washer Fluid
  • - During the winter months you can lean towards using a "Cold Weather Solvent". Be sure that you are ONLY putting washer fluid in your fluid reservoir, as anything else may freeze

  • Check Your Spare Tire
  • - "Out of sight, out of mind"... its easy to forget to check the condition of your spare tire. In most cars the spare tire will be located in the trunks undercarriage compartment, for trucks and SUVs it will be under the vehicle. Ensure that the spare is inflated properly and ready to go for emergencies. If your spare is under your vehicle, we recommend spraying the under cable with a" rust spray penetrant" and then lubing springs with a lithium grease to ensure mechanism is in good functioning order.

  • Tire Pressure
  • - During colder months tires tend to lose pressure, so take the time to check tire pressure & treads on your vehicle. National Highway transportation states that vehicle should be 2/32" of depth to be safe. If unsure, most Auto shop wills check your air pressure and tread depth for no cost.
